My Big Fat Gypsy Christmas

Christmas is a time for family, a time for peace and for harmony but it is also a time to celebrate. From the makers of My Big Fat Gypsy Weddings comes a band new observational documentary following the celebrations and traditions of members of the Irish traveller community at Christmas time. Filmed last year the film follows a mass yuletide traveller First Communion ceremony and two of the most jaw dropping weddings ever shown. The film also follows some of the uniquely traveller preparations that go on in the run up to Christmas day and spends Christmas Day itself with Paddy and Roseanne at their home on a traveller site in Salford. This warm and joy-filled film offers a window into the close-knit and fiercely private community. It explores some of the age-old traveller traditions – and some of the newer ones too.

The Russians Are Coming

FIRECRACKER FILMS has received an 8-part series order from National Geographic US on New York-based Russians. The series will be filmed in Brighton Beach, New York, the highest concentrated area of Russians in the US, and will follow the fortunes, failures and false starts of an interconnected group of Russian-Americans, as they strive to find their own American Dream. The series will air in the US in Fall 2012.

Nat Geo commissions Military Antiques series

FIRECRACKER FILMS is in production for a 10-part series for National Geographic US, based upon International Military Antiques (IMA), New Jersey.
The series follows the largest military antiques company in the world, as as they set about tracking down, buying and selling some of America’s most extraordinary pieces of military memorabilia.
Following the father and son who run the company, this stylish docu-series will use dramatic reconstruction in bringing to life the history behind some of the most sought after and unique souvenirs of war, ranging from the Civil War to Vietnam.
