In a TV first, BBC ONE AND IPLAYER will broadcast two landmark national event shows to mark Eid al-Fitr 2025. Eid Live and Celebrity Eid are part of Bradford UK City of Culture, marking this special moment in the Islamic calendar at the end of the month of Ramadan.
Presented by the BBC's Jason Mohammed alongside Imam Qari Asim MBE, Eid Live will come from Bradford Central Mosque on the morning of Eid and will be the first time this service of worship has been televised live on a UK terrestrial channel, with experts on hand to offer unique insights into the sermon, prayers, ritual and celebrations. Later the same day, BBC One and iPlayer will air a second programme, Celebrity Eid which will see well-known Muslim faces coming together with Muslim and non-Muslim friends and neighbours to celebrate the arrival of Eid. The show will include food and chat with famous faces and VTs filmed during Ramadan in the run up to Eid showcasing Bradford and Muslims across Britain.
Daisy Scalchi, Head of Commissioning, Religion and Ethics “When Amplify Consulting and Firecracker approached us with this idea, we wanted to do it immediately. It's fantastic to be celebrating Eid on such a large scale, inviting viewers both Muslim and non-Muslim viewers to join in this important and joyful moment in the religious calendar."
Eid Live (1x40’) and Celebrity Eid (1x45’), both for BBC One and iPlayer, are a co-production between Firecracker Films and Bradford-based Amplify Consulting. The Executive Producers are Aaqil Ahmed for Amplify Consulting and Jes Wilkins for Firecracker. The Senior Producer is Farah Qayum, the Live Director is Helen Scott and the Producer Director is Ahmed Peerbux. The Commissioner is Daisy Scalchi, Head of Commissioning, Religion and Ethics.
